The last AMF Journal entry, How to Build Your SAMP, detailed the steps for creating a Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP). The method for doing so is through an ISO 55000-conforming Asset Management System (AMS) and Asset Management (AM) Framework. The framework shown below is organized using Management Activity Groups (MAGs), with MAG #5 focused on SAMP development, approval, and implementation.
The purpose of a SAMP is to coordinate asset-related activities that enable organizational success. The SAMP is the apex reconciler between policy and strategy, budget/resources/capabilities, and asset-related program execution as depicted in the graphic below:
This AMF Journal entry continues the previous entry by providing a generic template that satisfies all ISO 55000 requirements for a SAMP. This transforms the SAMP from a collection of plans, budgets, and strategies into the command-and-control vector for organizational success reinforcing points made in earlier AMF Journal entries Why a SAMP Matters, SAMP as a Trust Engine, and SAMPs and Risk Management.
