Asset Management Maturity Assessment Playbook: Part 1
Asset Management Framework Journal
This Asset Management Framework (AMF) Journal entry details a playbook to assess an organization’s asset management maturity using the ISO 55000 – Asset Management standards series as an objective, unbiased basis for assessment. This is part one of a two part entry.
Introduction
This playbook provides guidance and step-by-step information on how to assess an organization’s asset management capabilities using an objective scale and a repeatable process. The methodology generates scores for an organization’s asset management capabilities and maturity to be used in continual improvement activities.
The assessment calculates asset management capability scores for the twenty-seven management function domains defined by operative ISO 55001 subclauses (i.e. those that have shall statements). Summation of input leads to determination of an organization’s overall maturity rating and insights for development of continual improvement activities, plans, and strategies.
This playbook establishes core configuration for an asset management maturity assessment of an enterprise Asset Management System (AMS) and accelerates pathways for continual improvement using an Asset Management (AM) Framework. This assessment methodology can be use for organizations just beginning their disciplined asset management journey, or by organizations who are already well along. This playbook and methodology also directly aligns with another AMF Journal entry titled: Playbook on How to Engineer and Organization’s Asset Management Culture.
