This AMP Newsletter article covers the last of the operative ISO 55001 subclauses in the Asset Management System (AMS) Behavior miniseries. The operative subclause is 10. – Improvement. Operative subclauses are those that have “shall” statements. The study of behavior is related to how someone responds to the environment they operate within. Understanding behavior is important to discovering pathways for performance and continual improvement.
In terms of “shall” statements, the soon to be released ISO 55001 update organizes the concept of improvement under the following headings:
10.1. – Continual Improvement: the concept of continual improvement, as presented, considers the suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness of assets, the AMS, and the organization’s approach to asset management. The “shall” statement mandates that the AMS shall ensure that continual improvement activities related to each is performed.
